Harunaga Ono-no was born in Japan.
In 1599, Ono-no-Harunaga was exiled to Yuki (Ibaraki Prefecture), for an offense but was pardoned at the Sekigahara Battle (1600), through the intermediary of Harutomo Yuki. He fought bravely under Masanori Fukushima. After the battle he went to Osaka and became a confidant of Yodogimi, Hideyoshi's widow, to the chagrin of faithful retainers of the Toyotomi family. He died with Hideyori and Yodogimi when Osaka Castle fell (1615).
