Henry Peter Gray

Henry was born on July 4, 1924, in Cheltenham, England, United Kingdom.

Education

Gray studied at Cambridge University and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1949, a Master of Arts in 1952. He also attended the University of California, Berkeley and finished it with his Master of Arts in 1961, and Ph.D. in 1963.

Career

Gray had Military service: Royal Air Force, as a pilot during 1942-47. He started to work as a purchasing manager at Dexion Ltd. during 1951-53. He was a general manager and secretary-treasurer at Dexion (Canada) Ltd. in Weston, Ontario during 1953-57.

He began to work as a lecturer in economics at the University of California, Davis in 1961. Later, he was an assistant professor at Wayne State University, Detroit during 1962-64, an associate professor during 1965-67, a professor of economics during 1967-68. In 1967 he started to work as an editor and writer and released his first work The Dollar Deficit: Causes and Cures.

He also worked at Rutgers University, New Brunswick as a professor of economics during 1968-87, a professor emeritus from 1987, the chairperson of Department of Economics at Douglass College during 1968-76 and 1979-80.

He served as a professor of economics and management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York during 1988-90, a professor emeritus from 1991. From 1991 he was an adjunct professor at Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey. Gray was a visiting professor at Thammasat University during 1966-67; at Jilin University in 1983. He was a guest research fellow at Kiel Institute of World Economics in 1987; a senior member at the Danish Summer Research Institute in 1992.

In 1993 he became a visiting professor at Universidad Internacional de las Americas, San Jose, Costa Rica; a visiting professor at Institute of International Economics in 1994.

• Henry Peter Gray is an American writer of such popular works as International Trade, Investment, and Payments, International Economic Problems and Policies, An Aggregate Theory of International Payments Adjustment and others. He also has been an influential educator, who lectured in Pakistan, Iran, Jordan, Greece, Egypt, Turkey, India, Mexico, Germany, Malaysia, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Western Samoa.
