Was castellan of Yaraaguchi Castle and held a fief of 20,000 koku of rice. Sided with Mitsunari Ishida in Se- kigahara Battle and consequently was relegated to Chofu Castle and had his fief reduced (1600). Joined Ieyasu Tokugawa in Osaka-jin (war between Tokugawa and Toyotomi). Was well versed in tea cere-mony and often served tea to Shogun Ie- mitsu Tokugawa.
