Hineno Taizan

Background

Hineno Taizan was born in Sano in Izumi Province (Osaka Prefecture).

He first studied painting of the Tosa School. Going up to Kyoto, he later studied the South School of Chinese painting and poetry.

While touring Kn Province (Wakayama Prefecture), he improved his skill. Was patronized by Yodo Yamanouchi and other teudal lords.

Well-known as a heavy drinker, he is said to have produced his best works under the influence of alcohol.
