Ikina no Tsuki was born in Japan.
Ikina was a soldier who accompanied the Japanese punitive expedition to Shiragi (a country in Korea) in 562, during the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Kimmei.
It is said that he was taken captive and a Korean general holding a pointed sword at him ordered him to hurl foul epithets at the Japanese Army. Ikina instead directed the rude abuse at the King of Shiragi and was immediately slashed and killed.
