Ivan was born July 17, 1906, in Ivansk village (now Cheshnikovsky district, Vitebsk region), Belarus in a peasant family. After graduation from school in 1928, he worked as a carpenter in the commune.

In 1932, he graduated from Minsk artillery school.
In 1947, he finished High Officer’s courses at the Military Academy of armored and mechanized troops.
In 1928, he was recruited to the Red Army.
In 1930, he became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

He was a participant in the battles with German invaders on the West, Kalininsky, Leningradsky and 1st Belarusian fronts.
The commander of 360 heavy self-propelled artillery regiment, 33 Army of the 1st Belarusian front, Guard Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Krasnik distinguished himself in the battles on the German territories (April 16-22, 1945).
The regiment led by Krasnik broke through the enemy's defenses and seized the Frankfurt-Berlin highway, repulsed 12 counterattacks, destroyed 24 tanks, 51 weapons, 87 mortars, 49 machine guns and 24 earth-covered structures of the enemies.
By the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR’s Decree, May 31, 1945, he was awarded Hero of the Soviet Union title for “exemplary fulfillment of the combat missions and the courage and heroism shown at that time”.
After the war he continued his service. In 1947, he finished High Officer’s courses at the Military Academy of armored and mechanized troops.
Since 1956, he was sent to the reserve.
He lived in Borisov. He died February 8, 1957 and was buried in Borisov.
