He graduated from Voronezh Theological seminary in 1849 and Kiev Theological Academy in 1853.
In 1853 Vladimir took monastic vows. He was a teacher of Orlov Theological seminary from 1853 to 1857, inspector of Irkutsk from 1857 to 1858 and Tomsk from 1859 to 1861 Theological seminaries, St. Petersburg Theological Academy from 1861 to 1865. In 1865-1883 chief of Altay spiritual mission and builder of Blagoveshchensk monastery in the Altai Mountains.
