Jerome Flynn is an actor, singer by profession and British by nationality. He is best known for portraying Paddy Garvey in Soldier Soldier, Ser Bronn in Game of Thrones, and Bennet Drake in Ripper Street.
Background
Born on March 16, 1963, in Bromley, England, Jerome Flynn is the son of Eric and Fern Flynn. Like him, his father was an actor and singer. His mother, on the other hand, worked as a drama teacher. He has a brother, Daniel, and a sister, Kerry. From his father’s second marriage to South African native Caroline, he has two half-siblings, Lillie and Johnny. Most of his siblings are involved in the entertainment industry. Daniel is an actor. Johnny is a singer, musician, songwriter, and actor. Lillie earned an acting degree from The Central School of Speech and Drama in 2007.
His love of animals was inherited from his mother. She would often rescue injured animals and provided them shelter until they were healthy again.
Education
For education, Jerome Flynn attended Wilderness school where he was an excellent rugby player and was not an academic student. His interest in acting started in school plays. At the age of 17, he stopped his English A Level, took a year off. And at the age of 18, he joined Central School of Speech and Drama where he completed 3 years of acting course.
In 1985, Jerome Flynn began his professional acting career with an appearance in a season four episode of the PBS anthology series ‘American Playhouse’. A year later, he played firefighter Kenny "Rambo" Baines in the LWT television film ‘London's Burning’, which eventually served as the pilot for the show of the same name (1988-2002). However, Flynn was the only actor who did not reprise his role in the show (besides Gary McDonald, whose character, Andreas "Ethnic" Lewis, died in the telefilm), as he had prior commitments. He was cast as Freddie in the 1988 drama series ‘The Fear’. In 1992, he portrayed D.S. Eddie Hargreaves in the BAFTA-winning police drama series ‘Between the Lines’.
Between 1991 and 1995, he essayed the role of the non-commissioned officer Patrick "Paddy" Garvey in the first five seasons of the ITV military drama series ‘Soldier Soldier’. In 1993, he appeared in the telefilm ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, which was directed by Stuart Orme. He starred in yet another telefilm in 1995, titled ‘A Mind to Murder’. He then worked in ‘Ain't Misbehavin'’, a 1997 musical-comedy-drama miniseries set in the 1940 Blitz of wartime London. In 1999, he portrayed the series protagonist in BBC One’s short-lived police procedural drama series ‘Badger’. His first voice work was in the 2007 CBeebies children’s animated show ‘Tommy Zoom’.
Having acted together in projects like ‘Soldier Soldier’ and ‘Ain't Misbehavin'’, Flynn and Green created the pop duo Robson & Jerome in the mid-1990s. They never really put out any original music. Their musical catalogue was exclusively comprised of covers. In November 1995, the duo released their self-titled debut album through RCA Records. It turned out to be a massive hit, topping both the UK and Scottish music charts. Furthermore, it was certified 6x Platinum by the BPI. In November 1996, Robson & Jerome’s second album, ‘Take Two’, was released. It also topped both the UK and Scottish charts and received 4x Platinum certification from the BPI.
In July 2010, it was revealed that Flynn has been cast as the sellsword Bronn in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’, which is based on American author George R. R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ book series. Since its premiere on April 17, 2011, the show has become the most watched TV series of all time. It has won numerous awards, including 47 Primetime Emmys. Flynn, as a member of the cast, has been twice (2011 and 2015) nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. On April 14, 2019, the show began airing its eighth and final season.
For his performance as Bennet Drake in BBC One’s mystery drama ‘Ripper Street’ (2012-16), he was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 1988, Flynn had his cinematic debut in Piers Haggard’s ‘A Summer Story’. Some of his other film credits are ‘To Kill a Priest’ (1988), ‘Edward II’ (1991), ‘Best’ (2000), and ‘Loving Vincent’ (2017).
Jerome Patrick Flynn has garnered international fame for portraying the sellsword Bronn in the HBO fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’. He has been nominated for 2011’s, 2015’s and 2017’s Screen Actors Guild Award - Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for the role in Game of Thrones and in 2013’s British Academy Television Awards - Best Supporting Actor for work in Ripper Street.

Quotations:
"Shaking's one of the oldest practices known to man. Standing round a fire and connecting with the Earth and moving energy through the body because it's where a lot of our stuff can get trapped."
"I often played nice guys when I was younger, and it's nice to be able to explore the darker side."
"Shaking's great. Shaking's one of the oldest practices known to man. Standing round a fire and connecting with the earth and moving energy through the body because it's where a lot of our stuff can get trapped. Yeah, I would recommend it. If you can walk into a set and feel the reality of it, then immediately you're not having to work to bring yourself into the character."
"We keep on saying 'Jack' and 'he,' but that's one of the great things about the Ripper: its a mystery, which is part of the fascination and the fear. If you can see evil and face it, it often doesn't look so evil, but the Ripper never got caught."
"Who do I think Jack The Ripper was? Do you know, I've got no idea who Jack The Ripper was. No idea."
"I don't think it takes much for a cult to be a cult. Many parts of our society are cultish, and you only need a charismatic leader and some teachings, and before you know it, you have a cult."
"When you're in something like 'Game of Thrones' and get the chance to play a part like Bronn, with that cast and with Peter Dinklage, it's wonderful."
"I've always enjoyed the physical side of acting."
