The Churchs History of Injustices and Why This Priest Left
(The Church's History of Injustices and Why This Priest Le...)
The Church's History of Injustices and Why This Priest Left grew out of the Church's role in the civil rights movement of the 1960s and outlines the Church's role in civil rights from the New Testament through the present time. John Sheehy focuses on the Catholic Church, but includes all Christian denominations, exposing not only the Church's lack of interest in the basic rights of people, but it's role as perpetrator of social injustice.
John Sheehy was a former American priest, author, business consultant, and educator. He served as an adjunct professor of Philosophy at Purdue University North Central (present-day Purdue University Northwest). Among his writings are When You Pray and The Church's History of Injustices and Why This Priest Left.

Achievements
John Sheehy was an outstanding educator, as well as a well-known author of two books, priest and business consultant. In addition, John was the co-founder of the Christian Family Movement in Grand Rapids, Cheboygan, and Muskegon Heights.
John F. Sheehy believed that the church today oppresses women and gays and has oppressed blacks, so-called heretics, biblical investigators and married people. At one time he thought the church could be reformed and become a powerful force for change. But he saw the church as an outmoded paradigm created for another time. He thought, that spirituality and even religion can play a role as a leaven in society, and that the church does not and probably cannot because it is frozen in feudal forms.
