Studied Chinese classics from a very early age.
Career
Appointed to Cabinet in 1881. Later appointed instructor of Tokyo University.
Wrote many Chinese poems and was regarded as a first rate poet.
Was a friend of Hirobumi Ito and was wounded when the latter was shot dead at Harbin in 1909.
