Kamitsukenu no Tamichi was born in Japan. He was the son of Aratawake.
It is said that during the 53rd reign of Emperor Nintoku, he was sent as a commander of a punitive expedition to subjugate Shiragi (Korea), as the latter district had refused to pay tribute to the Emperor. Tamichi's expedition was successful and he brought back with him as captives the entire residents of 4 villages. Again when the Ezo rose in revolt (367), Tamichi was sent to quell them, but this time his army was defeated and he was killed.
