Katie Ford was born on the 29th of April, 1975 in Denver, Colorado, United States, the daughter of Michael and Mary Ford.
Katie Ford earned a Bachelor of Arts in English degree (magna cum laude) from Whitman College in 1997. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University in 2001 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 2003.
Katie Ford began her career as a writing intern and editorial aide in 1997-98 and as a staff writer and medical journalist in 1998 at Coffey Communications. Ford served as the poetry editor of the New Orleans Review from 2005 to 2009.
Katie joined Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in 1998 and began her career in education as a research assistant there until 1999. In 2002 she served as an instructor in writing at the University of Iowa and as an adjunct faculty to Kirkwood Community College. Katie also was an assistant professor of English at Loyola University in 2003. She has also taught at Reed College, at Franklin and Marshall College. Currently, she teaches at the University of California, Riverside, where she directed the MFA Program from 2015-2018.
Katie wrote her first book “Deposition” in 2002. In 2008 her “Colosseum” and “Storm” were published. Ford’s most recent books are “Blood Lyrics” that was written in 2014 and “If You Have to Go” in 2018.
Katie Ford was also a contributor to books, including “The Smart Girl's Guide to College, Farrar, Straus & Giroux” in 1998 and “Writing under the Influence”; contributor of poetry and articles to literary journals, including Quarterly West, Seneca Review, Salt Hill, Journal of Religion and Abuse, Northwest Review, Ploughshares, Partisan Review, Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, and Clackamas Literary Review.
