Admitted to Kentucky bar, 1926. Private practice, Barbourville, 1926-1953. Commissioner Interstate Commerce Commission, 1953-1975, chairman, 1959.

Chairman of the Board Union National Bank of Barbourville, 1934-1953. Lieutenant governor Kentucky, 1943-1947. President Kentucky State Senate, 1944-1946.

Chairman Kentucky Legislation Council, 1943-1945, Kentucky Committee of Interstate Corporation, 1944-1948.
