Kinjiro Sugimura was born in Tokyo in 1889.
He graduated from Mathematics Department of Tokyo University (1912). He went to Germany for study (1926).
Kinjiro Sugimura became professor at Tokyo Higher Normal School (1920). He served as professor at Tokyo University of Science and Literature and then as president of the same university and Tokyo Higher Normal School.
Kinjiro Sugimura was appointed professor of Saitama University (1949) and became professor of Tokyo Gakugei Daigaku (Tokyo University of Arts and Sciences) (1953). He served also as Togushoku Goyo-gakari (official of the Board of the Crown Prince's Affairs) (1946) and president of Nihon Sugaku Kyoikukai (Japan Mathematics Education Society).
