Lee R. Steiner, a Consultant in Personal Problems, set out to discover where people take their troubles and this book represents her twelve years of research into where they go and what they get for their money. She presents here an endless pageant of emotionally troubled people who in their search for solace, become followers of self-appointed "consultants" who invade field of psychological practice, the unlicensed at the time of her study. She gathered these findings from her experiences as a patient of these operators, by becoming a member of the various societies, and as a consultant to many persons who had already had unfortunate experiences with these practitioners.
