Career

He arrived in China in 1910, where he started working as a teacher at Public School for Chinese till 1914. Since 1914, he became a First Assistant Master and worked at Ellis Kadoorie School. In 1916 he became a headmaster of Nieh Chih Kuei Public School for Chinese. He also worked at Fire Brigade Hongkew from 1910 till 1919, as well as at Volunteer Corporation Service Company "A" from 1910 till 1912.
