Louis Gressett Williams, American biologist, educator. Responsible for beginning and helping to scientifically resolve longest, most expensive, most complex in history environmental dispute by the Reserve Mining Company taconite pollution of Lake Superior at Silver Bay, Minnesota. Carnegie grantee, 1947-1948; Ford Foundation fellow, 1952.

In charge plankton biology program National Water Quality Laboratory, Duluth, Minnesota, 1965-1967. Professor biology, professor ecology emeritus University Alabama, since 1967. Consultant water pollution, radionuclide contamination.
Consultant to Environmental Protection Agency on protection of ground water and surface water for management of toxic, hazardous and ionizing materials from industry and federal defense agencies.
