Lyudmila Derbina (married name is Granovskaya) was born on February 15, 1938, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg City). She is from the family of a serviceman.

She graduated from the Library Institute.
In 1961-1969 she lived in Voronezh, where she worked in the library of the Voronezh State University and in the library of excavator plant.
Later she met in Vologda the poet Nikolai Mikhailovich Rubtsov. She killed him during a family quarrel in January 1971. More than 5 and a half years she spent in detention. She is the author of the poems collection.
In February 1996, Derbina came to Voronezh, had a talk before the readers of the Voronezh Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. S. Nikitin and the Scientific Library of Voronezh State University. She lives in the city of Petrodvorets, near St. Petersburg.
