Marie Redonnet studied literature and wrote her thesis on Jean Genet, a French novelist, playwright, poet, essayist, and political activist.
After studying, Redonnet taught art and language.
She taught for a number of years in a suburban lycée before deciding to pursue a writing career full time. Since her volume of poetry "Le Mort & Cie" appeared in 1985, she has published four novels, a novella, numerous short stories, and three dramatic works. Moreover, her books are written in sparse prose that some have compared to Samuel Beckett.
Redonnet has taught at the Université de la Sorbonne-Nouvelle. From 1995 to 1997, she was responsible for the research of art and language at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. From 2000 to 2004, she was an advisor for literature at the French embassy in Morocco.
In 2018 she wrote and published "Trio pour un monde égaré".
Redonnet currently lives in Morocco.
