Lindquist graduated from high school in 1937 and then studied languages.

She was of Swedish ethnicity. In addition, she has written song lyrics, illustrated books, worked as a translator, materials writer, producer, former editor and journalist. She is the author of hundreds of song texts and poems.
Lindquist is already a widow and has two daughters - Marika and Anki (folk singer, 1945 - 2007).
Her books have been translated into many foreign languages.
