Background

Mark Stephen Sableman was born on September 13, 1951, in Saint Louis, Missouri, United States. He is the son of Chester L. and Lillian E. Sableman.

Education

Sableman graduated from Grinnell College with a bachelor's degree (with honours) in 1972. He then received his Master of Jurisprudence degree from Northwestern University in 1973 and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University (cum laude) in 1979.

Career

Sableman started his career as a reporter and editor for Clearwater Sun in 1973. Three years later, he went to Washington Post, where he worked till 1978. He then became an associate at Reuben & Proctor Company and worked there until he went to Thompson Coburn LLP, where he has been serving as an intellectual property, media, and internet law partner since 1986.

From 2001, Sableman also holds the position of an adjunct professor at Washington University.
