He graduated from the School of Science, Tokyo University (1921).
Career
Was appointed professor at his alma mater (1942). During the war, he was director of the Bui tensor jr Botanical Gardens in Java during the Pacific War. After the war, he was appointed director of the botanical gardens attached to Tokyo University.
