During the Battle of Nagashmo when Katsuyori Takeda was defeated Masatsune and Denzaemon Takeda helped him to escape and were the only two retainers who remained faithful to him. Again when Nobunaga Oda attacked and defeated Katsuyori, who fled into Mount Temmoku, it was Masatsune who rallied 40 faithful warriors and attacked the enemy. However, he and his men as well as Katsuyori were killed.
