Career
After graduating from Tokyo University, Tamachi remained briefly as an instructor till he proceeded to America for furtherstudies. After returning home he was appointed instructor at Taipeh University, then professor of Peiping Agricultural College, to eventually become professor of Kyushu University. Tamachi was also nominated to the staff of Civil Engineering Research Institute.
