Education
Mena (Filomena) Romano Received her Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture and Painting and Bachelors of Fine Art (summa cum laude) from Long Island University C.W.Post campus and her AAS in Art (with honors) from Suffolk Community College. Mena started her teaching career in 1987 as an adjunct Professor of Art for Suffolk Community College's Selden campus and Grant Campus, Long Island University C.W.Post Campus and St. Josephs satellite Campus, SUNY Old Westbury, Dowling College and Nassau Community College. In 2000 Mena was appointed to teach 2D design, Drawing and Painting for a one year temporary full time position in Nassau Community College, in 2001 Mena applied for and was awarded a full time tenured position teaching 3D design, Sculpture and Ceramics inNassau Community College, later became area coordinator. She was asked to and accepted the challenge of starting two Art internship programs, one for Liberal Arts students and the other for Art Majors. Mena Romano retired as of January 1, 2016 and was awarded Professor Emeritus status. She continues to teach as an adjunct for Nassau Community College and works in her Ronkonkoma studio creating her art.
