Background

Gable was born on June 1, 1945 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States; the son of Harold Walker Gable and Mary Catharine (Liebeck) Gable.

Education

Gable received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 1967. Two years later he earned his Master of Science degree in Zoology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Zoology in 1972 from the University of New Hampshire.

Career

Gable began his career as a consultant at Normandeau Associates Inc. in 1972 and held it for ten years. Since 1972 he was a professor at Eastern Connecticut State University. Nowadays Michael is a professor emeritus at the same university.

Achievements

• Gable is known for his publication "Infaunal Zoogeography and Intergeneric Character Blending: The Case of Metaniphargus shiroi sp nov (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Hadziidae), from Interstitial Beach Water on Akajima Island, the Kerama Islands, Southwestern Japan."
