He graduated from the Ostrogozhsk district school (1848).
In the mid-1850s, under the leadership of N.I. Vtorov participated as a retouch artist in the creation of an album of ethnographic types of the Voronezh province (together with M. B. Tulinov).
Also, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1865).
Career
In the late 1860s, he set up his own photo studio in Moscow. He captured many performances of the plays of Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky, materials of the Moscow Pushkin Exhibition (1880) and others.
