1917 member, Committee of Military Orgs, Petrograd Committee. During 1917 October Revol comissar, Armory, Petropavlovsk Fortress. Helped crush Petrograd cadet revolt and defeat Kerenskiy and Krasnov’s troops approaching the city.
Comissar, Pulkovo detachment. Then head, revol field staff of commander in chief North. V. Krylensko’s Headquarters. During Civil War fought in Red Army as military commander, then head, Revol Field Staff Against Counterrevol.
Often carried out special military missions for Lenin. After the Civil War for many years with Centr Control Commission and Workers and Peasants’ Inspection. In latter years taught at Moscow’s higher educational institutions and Higher Party School.
