In 1925 Mikhail Grigorievich graduated from Voronezh State University.
Mikhail Grigorievich Prives worked in the Voronezh Surgical Clinic (1925-1930). He was an employee of State Roentgenological and Radiological Institute (the Institute of Medical Radiology) in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) (1930-1953) where he also was the Head of the laboratory of general and comparative anatomy (1937-1953). At the same time was the Head of Human Anatomy Department at the First Medical Institute of Leningrad (1937-1977). During the evacuation of the Institute to Krasnoyarsk (1942-1944) he was one of the organizers and the first directors of Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute.
The author of more than 200 scientific works, which include the books: "Rentgenografia limfaticheskoy sistemi" ("The rontgenography of lymphatic system") (1948); "Metodi konservirovania anatomicheskih preparatov" ("The methods of preserving anatomic preparations") (1956); "Anatomia cheloveka" ("Human anatomy") (1968, 1974, together with other authors).
