Background

Mikhail Nikolaevich Babkin was born on January 22, 1922 in Staraya Toida village, Voronezh district in a peasants' family.

Education

Mikhail graduated from the Chkalov Military Pilot Air School (1943), the flying school of the civil air fleet in Ulyanovsk (1951).

Career

Mikhail Nikolaevich was a participant of the Great Patriotic War and the Korean War of 1950-1953. Deputy commander of the squadron of the 198th Assault Air Regiment (4th Air Army, 2nd Belorussian Front). By March 1945 Mikhail made 145 sorties. Since 1946, the senior lieutenant of the reserve. Since 1953, again in the Soviet Army, he served in long-range aviation. Major Babkin died in a plane crash.
