Mikhail was a member of the Voronezh Provincial Statistical Committee, Voronezh Academic Archive Commission. He published chronicles in the newspaper "Voronezh Telegraph" and the newspaper "Don", articles of historical and cultural content in the "Ostrogozhsky list" (since 1908).
Participated in the preparation of the "Ostrogozhsky Calendar". Articles on publishing and self-taught composers in Ostrogozhsk are placed in the Memorandum for 1915 and 1916. During the Civil War, he helped preserve the county archives.
Collection of books and other printed materials of Ivchenko formed the basis of the library of Ostrogozhsky historical and art museum, where Ivchenko's archive was also transferred.
