Mitrofan Ivanovich Zinoviev

Background

He was born on the 15th of January 1850 in Voronezh, Russia.

Education

He graduated from Voronezh gymnasium, studied at the Saint Petersburg Academy of arts (1870s).

Career

Since 1880 he lived in the village of Glinsk, Poltavsk region. Artist-Retoucher in the Studio of Pergamos (Saint Petersburg, the end of 1860-s - 1871). Teacher of drawing in Sumsky cadet corps (1897-1912).

Illustrator of works by T.G. Shevchenko, L.H. Tolstoy, A.N. Ostrovsky. His drawings were published in the magazine "Pchela", "Niva", "Lastochka" (series "V Malorossii", 1884-1985), "Zhivopisnoe obozrenie".

Achievements

• Since 1893 he participated in exhibitions of St. Petersburg "Society of Russian watercolorists".
  
  Most of Zinoviev's works are kept in Kharkiv art Museum. Some works are available in the State Russian Museum.
