In 1889 Alexander Grigorievich graduated from Voronezh Gymnasium and in 1894 from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Saint Petersburg State University.
After graduation, Alexander Grigorievich lived and worked in a family estate in Zemlyansky county. Since 1901 he became the town councilor of the county and Voronezh provincial zemstvos. In 1905 Alexander Grigorievich took part in the creation of the Voronezh Committee of the People’s Freedom Party (cadets). Member of the 1st State Duma. In July 1906, a tax return was signed.
In 1908, by the verdict of the Petersburg District Court, Alexander Grigorievich was imprisoned for 3 months. In 1917, he was a member of the government, and then comrade of Minister of Finance A.I. Shingarev. In November 1917, after the Bolsheviks had banned the party People’s Freedom Alexander Grigorievich was again imprisoned for 5 months. In 1922, on the recommendation of military man V.R. Menzhinsky, he took part in reforms aimed at stabilizing the Soviet monetary system as a member of the board of the RSFSR State Bank. During his final years Alexander Grigorievich worked as a consultant on medicinal plants and social activities.
