Mochitomo Uesugi was born in 1416 in Japan.
Distinguished himself when Mochitomo Uesugi crushed the revolt of Mochiuji Ashikaga, governor of Kanto District (1438). Later when Shigeuji took his defeated father's place as governor of Kanto, Mochitomo became a priest under the nameof Docho. He returned to the battlefield when Shigeuj i started trouble and after defeating him, built the Kawagoe Castle (Saitama Prefecture) (1460). Soon afterward he was ordered by Shogun Yoshimasa Ashikaga to completely crush Shigeuji, but died before doing so.
