Naetaro Tanaka graduated from Tokyo University (1891) with a degree in medicine.
Naetaro Tanaka was appointed a surgeon in the army. He was ordered to leave for Germany (1901) for further studies, but could not do so owing to illness, so he joined the staff of the Juntendo Hospital.
He became a director of the Kagoshima Hospital (1906) and was considered an authority in war injuries.
