Nelli Mikhaylovna graduated from a Teacher Training College in the city of Rossosh, Voronezh Region (1957), and from the faculty of primary education of the Voronezh State Pedagogical University (1961).
Nelli Mikhaylovna worked as a piano teacher, deputy director of the Ostrogozhk children's music school (1961-1967). Moreover, she was a primary school teacher in secondary school № 51 (Voronezh, 1967-1971). Since 1965, Nelli Mikhaylovna participated in the research and experimental work of the moral education laboratory of the Institute of Theory and History of Pedagogy of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences. Since 1971, at the Department of Theory and Methods of Pioneering Work, since 1979 at the Department of General and Pedagogical Psychology (since 2000, head of the department) of the Voronezh State Pedagogical University.
