From October 1906 till June 1907 Nikolai Alekseevich studied in Lausanne (Switzerland) studying natural sciences; then in 1909 he entered the Department of Natural Sciences of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Moscow University and in 1912 Nikolai Alekseevich successfully graduated with a degree in Botany.
Then Nikolai Alekseevich continued his studies at the agronomy faculty of the Moscow Agricultural Institute, which he graduated in 1915 with a degree in crop production. In 1915-1917, he studied at the graduate school of the Department of Private Agriculture and Agricultural Chemistry under the supervision of Professor D.N. Pryanishnikov.
Since 1917 Nikolai Alekseevich was an assistant, associate professor, professor of the Department of Plant Production, since 1930 he was a professor of the Department of Breeding at the Voronezh Agricultural Institute since 1937 at the same time professor of the Department of Genetics and Selection of Voronezh State University.
