Noriaki Uesugi was born in 1306 in Japan.
Noriaki Uesugi fought for Takauji Ashikaga when the latter revolted against Emperor Godaigo. He was appointed Shitsuji (chief retainer of governor-general of Kanto), after Takauji founded the Shogunate. Later when Morofuyu Kono killed his brother-in-law, Shigeyoshi, he sought revenge and after Morofuyu was killed, he nominated his son Ujimitsu Governor of Kanto and assisted him in ruling the district. He was an ardent follower of Zen Sect and built the Kokusenji Temple in Izu.
