Kwei Paul received his education at St. John's University from 1909 to 1912. Then he graduated from Tsinghua College (later Tsinghua University) in 1918. Mr. Kwei received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1917, Master of Arts from Cornell University in 1920, Doctor of Philosophy from Princeton University in 1925. Between 1917 and 1918 he was a student of the University of Chicago.
Mr. Kwei held the following positions: secretary to Tsinghua College (later Tsinghua University) from 1913 to 1914, Y.M.C.A. secretary with Chinese laborers in France during 1918-1919, teacher in physics in the pre-medical school of the Peking Union Medical College in 1920-1922, head of the department of physics at Yale College in China in 1922-1927, China Medical Board Fellow in physics, Princeton University, between 1923 and 1926 etc.
During 1927-1928 Kwei Paul served as a professor of physics at the Northeastern University, Shenyang. Since 1928 he was the head of the department of physics, Shanghai College.
