Mr. Chu graduated from the Yunnan Military School.
Chu Pei-teh served as a Commander-in-Chief of the Yunnan Army in 1921 and chief councillor to Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Generalissimo's Headquarters at Canton in 1923. Since 1924 he was a commander of the Chien Kuo Chun Army. Upon establishment of the Nationalist Government at Canton in 1925, Mr. Chu was elected member of the Central Executive Committee and member of the Central Political Council at the second National Congress of Kuomintang at Canton in 1926.
Upon inauguration of the Northern Punitive Expedition in 1926, he was appointed commander of 3rd Nationalist Army Chairman of the Jiangxi (Kiangsi) Provincial Government and concurrently Commander of the 5th Route Army in 1927. From 1928 Chu Pei-teh took the post of a Field-Commander of the Nationalist 1st Group Army.
Mr. Chu was re-elected member of the Central Executive Committee of Kuomintang at the 3rd National Congress in March, 1929. He was a member of the Government Council and Chief of General Staff in 1929-1931. Since 1932 Mr. Chu resumed his office as a director of the Military Council. From 1933 to 1935 Chu Pei-teh worked as an Inspector-General of Military Training. He also was an acting Chief of General Staff since 1935.
