Mykola Platonovich Bazhan was born on the 2th of September, 1904 in the city of Kamenets-Podolsk.
Since 1958 Mikola Platonovich was the editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia. In 1984 his Selected Works were published in 2 volumes. During the Great Patriotic War, he was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Za Radyanska Ukrainu" intended for residents of the occupied territories of Ukraine.
Mikola Platonovich was in Voronezh since the autumn of 1941 until the spring of 1942, where the headquarters of the South-Western Front was then located. There he wrote and published a historical poem "Danil o Galitsky".
