Peter Lvovich Monastyrsky was born on June 17, 1915 in Odessa, Odes'ka Oblast', Ukraine.
In 1940, Peter Lvovich staged the play "April" by Alexander Afinogenov on the stage of the drama theater of the city of Ostrogozhsk. Director and chief director in the theaters of Lugansk (1945-1948), Krasnoyarsk (1948-1953), the Novosibirsk Youth Theatre (1953-1955).
Since 1955, the director, in 1959-1965, and since 1967 the main director of the Kuibyshev Drama Theater (1988-1995, artistic director, since 1995, director of the Samara Drama Theater). Chief director of the theater "Wheel" (Togliatti, Samara region, since 2007).
During his life he staged more than 160 performances. Performed in Poland and Bulgaria. Conducted acting classes in studios at various theaters. Author of the books: “Chief Director” (Kuibyshev, 1985), “Anshlag” (Moscow, 1989).
