Rachel Lebon was born on November 27, 1951, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, United States. She is the daughter of Raymond J. and Georgette (Dufault) Lebon.
Rachel Labon attended North Texas State University (now University of North Texas), where she got a Bachelor of Music degree (cum laude) in 1977. In 1980 she became a Master of Music Education there. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, United States in 1986.
Rachel L. Lebon started her career as an assistant professor at Belmont College, Nashville, Tennessee, in 1979-83. Since 1987 she has been working as an associate professor of music (jazz voice) at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida.
Since 1985 she has been a member of Professional Voice Institute. Also, she is a performer on international tours, including appearances with Tops in Blue of the U.S. Air Force, singer for national and local television programs and with Nashville Opera Quartet.
Labon served at United States Air Force, where she was an academic instructor in 1969-73, became a staff sergeant and received a Commendation Medal.
