From 1957 to 1958 he studied at Mdutshane Agricultural Training Centre.

After a brief spell as clerk to one of the national courts he returned to agriculture. From 1959 to 1964 he was a field officer with the Department of Agriculture advising peasant farmers. He attended courses in Britain in Hertfordshire in 1962 and 1963 studying agriculture methods then left government service in August 1964 for a job with the Swaziland Milling Company at Manzini. He had a study tour to Kenya in 1965 and took a course in public administration at Sussex University, England, in 1966.
He was elected to Parliament in 1967 and re-elected in May 1972. His reputation inside the party was such that many observers expected him to be included in the government formed in June 1972 but he was required to wait on the wings.
Farmer-businessman with shrewd political judgment which many believe mark him far high office one day. He has proved himself an efficient organiser as back-room boy at party headquarters. After attending courses in Britain and Kenya he acquired administrative skills enabling him to play an important part in Swaziland politics.
