Sakae Takeda was born in 1891 in Yamanashi, Japan.
He graduated from Tokyo University in 1917. He was in China (1921-1923) as overseas research student of Education Ministry.
Sakae Takeda became professor of Kyoiku (Education) University in 1949 after serving as professor of the 1st Higher School, assistant professor of Tokyo University and professor of Tokyo Bunrika (Literature and Science) University in 1946.
Upon retiring from the above posts, he became professor of Toyo University. He was an author of "New Chinese Dictionary."
