The profession of his family was priesthood at the Onchi Shrine (Osaka Prefecture). He followed Masashige Kusunoki when he was summoned to the temporary Court of Emperor Godaigo Mount Kasagi (1331). When the Emperor returned from his exile on Oki Island, he welcomed the Emperor at Hyogo together with Masashige.
When Masashige attacked Iimoriyama, Sakon spearheaded the attack and captured it. When Takauji Ashikaga's forces came eastward from Kyushu to attack the Kyoto area, Masashige met them, having entrusted Masatsura, his son, with Sakon. Sakon took Masatsura to Kawachi (Osaka Prefecture) and met Emperor Godaigo in Yoshino. What became of him afterward is unknown.
