She received a BA from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 1970, and an MFA from the University of Texas, at San Antonio in 1978. She also attended the University of Texas at Austin from 1972 to 1973.
Since 1978 she has been employed as both a curator of the San Antonio Museum Association in San Antonio, Texas, and an instructor at San Antonio College. Previously, she was a teaching assistant at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1977, and an instructor at the Arkansas School for the Deaf in Little Rock from 1974 to 1975.
She was also named one of the Outstanding Arkansas Artists by the Arkansas State Festival of the Arts in Little Rock in 1975.
