He is famous for establishing the superhero comics genre in India and in Hindi language. He provided the platform to Anupam Sinha who created the popular superhero Super Commando Dhruva. He created the characters Nagraj, Doga, Bhokal, Yoddha et cetera
Gupta communicates with Raj comics fans through his columns "Green Pages" and "Star Pages".
He is often credited, along with Anupam Sinha-Jolly Sinha, as being responsible for the revival of the comics industry in India. At presesnt, he is taking on more ambitious projects, such the live action film of Doga, which is being produced by Phantom Films and directed by Anurag Kashyap.
