He graduated from Keio University (1910). Proceeded to Europe to study economic history.
Takahashi Seiichiro became lecturer and professor at Keio University and also lectured at several other universities. Became Minister of Education (1947). Was emeritus professor of Keio University, director of Geijitsuin (Art s Academy), of Imperial Museum, member of Japan Academy and a noted connoisseur of ulciyoe paintings. Among his works are "A Study of Economic Theory of Mercantilism" and "History of Economics".
