He graduated from Tokyo University.
After graduating from Tokyo University, he became a professional writer. Wrote many novels, articles and essays for Bungakukai (literary magazine). Was for some time teacher at several higher schools and then went abroad. Upon return was professor at Keio University. Among his works are "25,000 Miles Through Europe," Buncho (Rice Bird) and many translations from English works.
